Joe comes from a long line of native Floridians. His great grandmother's side of the family being one of the first settlers on Captiva Island in the late 1800's, and his great grandfather's side came to Fort Myers in 1919 and started the famous Peace Gardens in Buckingham. Thomas Edison, a personal friend at the time, had all of his exotic landscaping for his Fort Myers estate imported from the Peace Gardens where you can see their beautiful plants still on display to this day.
